    Despite 3 hard falls, a disqualification, and a scoreless weekend at Okemo Mountain in the J3 Vt State Championships on March 3rd and 4th, Jessie Kuzmicki, age 14 from Pownal, VT remained undeterred and bounced back this past weekend at Burke Mountain in the final State qualifier of the season. Kuzmicki finishing 24th in slalom and 25th in giant slalom combined with her 11th place in the State Super G last month managed to score enough points to qualify for one of the 11 spots on the VT State Finals Team. Other State teams from Virginia to Maine will travel to Killington on March 8-11 and join Vermont's team for the USSA J3 Eastern Regional Finals. These 160 athletes will battle for the last 10 openings on the USSA J3 Eastern Junior Olympic Team. There will be 5 female and 5 male spots awarded to individuals based on results. Although the stakes are high and the odds even higher, Ms. Kuzmicki remains determined to race on to the season's final finish line.
